This Executive Talk, we had the opportunity to speak to Khun Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President of Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications, to gain insight into Bangchak's approach to sustainability and corporate communication.
- First, I would like you to share how Bangchak, as a socially responsible energy company, has set its sustainability goals.
-
From a sustainability perspective, Bangchak has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 and reach Net Zero by 2050 through the BCP316NET plan. This plan focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions by improving energy efficiency and developing new technologies to minimize environmental impacts sustainably. Additionally, we are building a Net Zero Ecosystem through collaborations with business partners, communities, and consumers to collectively create a sustainable society.
Bangchak operates its business with an emphasis on "balance." We don’t focus solely on profit but aim to create social and environmental value by making ESG the core of our business for balanced sustainability. This includes environmental stewardship, efficient resource use, fostering community collaboration to develop local economies, and conducting business transparently and responsibly with all stakeholders.
- Following up on what you just shared, Bangchak has a social network that plays a key role in driving sustainability. Could you please provide examples and explain what each project entails?
- Bangchak promotes sustainability by building social networks, such as the Baimai Punsuk Foundation, which supports youth education, natural resource conservation, and the improvement of the quality of life in Thai society. The foundation focuses on creating social and environmental impact through learning and action. Another example is Oamsuk Social Enterprise, which plays a vital role in supporting agricultural cooperatives and connecting the agricultural sector to improve community livelihoods. Bangchak also leads the establishment of Thailand's first Carbon Markets Club, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions with BCPG Public Company Limited and nine other partners. The club has grown to over 1,300 members, both organizations and individuals. We strive to create real change, not just within our company, but in broader society as well.
- Let’s shift to the topic of corporate communication. Could you share your perspective on corporate communication and your approach to managing the organization's reputation in the digital age?
-
For me, both internal and external communication are critically important. Within the organization, we want everyone to clearly understand the company’s goals and their own roles. Meanwhile, external communication helps build understanding and trust with all stakeholders.
Managing the company's reputation in the digital age is an ongoing challenge for Bangchak. Quick, transparent, and direct communication is key to managing crises in an era where information spreads rapidly. In some cases, reactive communication is necessary, but Bangchak also places great importance on preparedness, ensuring the company is ready to handle crises promptly and effectively.
- Lastly, as a leader in sustainability management and corporate communication at Bangchak, is there anything you would like to say?
-
The continuous growth of the Bangchak Group brings new challenges, including increasing complexity in resource management, communication, and brand reputation, particularly in the digital age. We emphasis the importance of working as One Team through the "One Leaf" concept, symbolised by Bangchak's leaf logo. This concept unites communication and operations across all divisions, departments, business groups, and companies within the organisation. By focusing on collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication, the company encourages sharing ideas and resources. This approach ensures synchronised development, shared understanding, and alignment towards common goals, ultimately improving efficiency and making success easier to achieve.
We firmly believe that strong teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication under the "One Leaf" concept are essential to the Bangchak Group's sustainable growth.
