Shutdown of Crude Distillation Unit (CDU)

- TRANSLATION - 1000 / 010 / 2007 January 4, 2008 Subject : Shutdown of Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) Attention : President of The Stock Exchange of Thailand The Bangchak Petroleum Public Co., Ltd. (the Company) has planned to undertake a scheduled shutdown of Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and related units during the first quarter of 2008. The Company will also undertake a relevant tie-in the existing plant with new cracking units' with regard to the Product Quality Improvement project (PQI). During this time the Company will take this opportunity to complete debottlenecking of associated equipments in order to make improvement refining efficiency and make the plant ready for PQI start-up which shall be taken place by the end of this year. Furthermore, following completions of the mentioned activities, the Company believe that extension of major turnaround from 18 months to 24 months shall be successfully achieved. Details of the shutdown 2008 are as follow. 1) Unit# CDU-2, capacity 40 thousand barrels per day, and other related units will be shutdown during January 25 - February 18, 2008. 2) Unit# CDU-3, capacity 80 thousand barrels per day, and other related units will be shutdown during February 4 - March 7, 2008. The complete shutdown of both units will be 15 days. The Company estimate crude run for the first quarter of 2008 will be approximately 52 thousand barrels per day in average (normal crude run level around 70 thousand barrels per day) The Company has planned to cope with this shutdown by preparing with various measures and arrangements to support the business and operation, e.g., to build finished oil product as well as purchase addition for ensuring the sufficient serve for the Company's customers and legal reserve.
