Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited release the short film “Regenerative Soul” #MirrorandFlower that awakens the dormant powers of the mind and ignites the spark of inspiration under the theme of “Greenovate to Regenerate.

This Executive Talk was honored by Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach Bangchak Group Chief Executive Officer and President to talk about the brand idea of the short film and share his visions on sustainability in business.

First of all, congratulations to Khun Chaiwat on being honored by Bangkok Post as CEO of the Year 2023 in Greenovation Leadership. Is there anything you would like to share about this incredible honor?

A: I would like to take this opportunity to thank our management and staff who contributed to the growth and success of Bangchak. For the past few years, we introduced various innovations that have earned Bangchak Group acclaim for its leadership in energy transition and innovation. This includes expanding the renewable energy business, promoting SynBio technology knowledge in the country, co-founding the Carbon Markets Club, and leading the clean energy fuel business, such as being the first to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), launching the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) service station, pioneering an electric motorcycle rental platform with battery swapping stations “Winnonie”, and taking a leading role in building a low-carbon social ecosystem.

Bangchak released the short film “Regenerative Soul” on the occasion of its 39th anniversary, could you please share where the idea of this short film came from?

Bangchak is entering the 40th year of operation which is going to be a new chapter for its robust growth. To mark the company’s anniversary, we launched the thematic film “Regenerative Soul” relays the story of a young boy filled with determination and perseverance to pursue his dreams reflecting Bangchak’s driving force and dynamic soul, which throughout its business journey is committed to overcome challenges and circumstances through Greenovation and foster natural equilibrium with a steadfast soul to create endless growth.

If there is one word to describe Bangchak brand, what word would it be?

It would be the word ‘Balance’ as Bangchak places importance on building and maintaining various balances. These includethe balance between business value and upholding environmental and social values, the balance of economic, environmental, and governance (ESG), the balancing of the Energy Trilemma as well as the balance between Bangchak’s five businesses, Refinery and Oil Trading Business, Marketing Business, Clean Power Business, Bio-Based Business, and Natural Resources Business.

Bangchak communicate the brand idea “Greenovate to Regenerate” through the short film, could you please give us more details on this brand idea?

“Greenovate to Regenerate” represents how Bangchak builds upon natural equilibrium to maintain continuous development and innovation, which are reflected in three pillars,

  • Regenerative Power to empower sustainable mobility and clean energy, as well as energizing lives through various beverages, and the power of cooperation across all sectors to address climate change
  • Regenerative Innovation for a brighter future, driving sustainable economic growth, and
  • Regenerative Life through sustainable business innovation in harmony with the environment and society. Bangchak strives to maintain the balance between “value” and “virtues” founded on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.
Lastly, is there any thing you would like to share about business and sustainability?

We chose the word ‘Regenerate’ to represent Bangchak’s sustainability as it is more profound than the word ‘Sustainable.’ We would like to emphasize on going back to the primitive ways, Regenerate is a sustainable practice while Greenovate is to be close to nature. When the most natural process is what we are looking for, instead of synthesizing, we utilize the natural cycle. Referring back to the thematic film, the boy uses mirror or solar to grow flower.

We cannot turn the world back to what it was in the past, yet we create a harmonious balance between nature and technologyto live through and “Greenovate to Regenerate” is our path to sustainability.
